School packed lunches - what are the best for your children?

The best lunch is something healthy, that is not to filling, but will give your child energy not sluggish.

Try to avoid using condiments that spoil such as manaise.

Mix tuna with mustard looks funny but taste good and is better for them. Due to a lot of children with peanut allergies schools ask that you don't make peanut butter sandwiches.

But if your school allows peanut butter, my kids love peanut butter, honey and banana sandwiches in a wrap.

If making meat sandwiches I would recommend using a cold back to keep meat fresh and use lettuce and tomato.

Salads are a good lunch with added cheese, keep dressing in a separate container.

In colder months I suggest soup in a thermos with crackers.

Bottled water and all natural juice not soda or sugary juice.

With a side of raw veggies like carrots and celery. don't forget the fruit like apples or grapes.

I usually try to provide a healthy balanced lunch for my daughter to take to school. Usually a turkey (or some other protein) sandwich on whole wheat bread, some baby carrots or sliced cucumbers, and a fruit (strawberries, grapes, etc.). She also loves string cheese. I've found that JIF carries pb to go in little cup sizes. My daughter loves to take that with cut celery (dips it in the pb). Yogurt is always a good choice also. Definitely use the cold packs.
